Impact Guides Every Decision We Make
Our investment philosophy is rooted in the belief that capital deployed with intent produces superior long-term outcomes for investors, portfolio companies, and the communities they operate in. We design innovative financing structures that drive the greatest measurable impact across West Africa.
We draw on 60+ years of experience deploying catalytic capital in Ghana: patient funding that reached thousands of Missing Middle enterprises overlooked by conventional financiers. That institutional knowledge informs every fund we structure and every portfolio we build.
"Inclusiveness is not a constraint on returns; it is the source of them. We invest with gender and climate lenses because markets that ignore half the population and the planet's limits are markets that misjudge risk."
Our Investment Strategy
Four complementary investment approaches give SIA and our investors full coverage of the West African private capital opportunity set.
01
Fund Investment
We invest in established and emerging Private Funds & Fund Managers across West Africa who share our commitment to impact, gender inclusion, and Missing Middle SME growth. Our fund-of-fund architecture enables diversified exposure across sectors and stages.
02
Co-Investment
Alongside our fund partners, we co-invest directly into high-conviction portfolio companies, bringing additional capital, strategic value, and network leverage to the most promising businesses at critical growth inflection points.
03
Secondaries
We provide liquidity solutions to existing fund investors and create entry points for new capital into mature African private equity portfolios, supporting healthy market dynamics and enabling responsible capital recycling.
04
Managed Accounts
For institutional investors and family offices with specific mandates (sectoral focus, geographic preference, or ESG screens), we structure and manage bespoke separate accounts that align with their precise impact and return objectives.
Our Investment Lenses
Every investment we make is evaluated through three non-negotiable lenses, embedded in our due diligence process, not retrofitted as an afterthought.
Job creation
We prioritise investments that expand productive employment: scalable SMEs, strong management teams, and fund strategies that translate capital into decent work and economic participation across West Africa.
Climate Lens
At least 25% of portfolio companies must contribute measurably to climate action, from renewable energy to sustainable agriculture to circular economy models.
Impact Lens
Every investment is evaluated against S.M.A.R.T impact criteria. We target 50% of portfolio companies generating positive, measurable environmental or social outcomes.
